A screenprint from Damien Hirst's Venoms series of 2011, in which each spot print is named for a poisonous animal. Vipera Lebetina takes its title from the blunt-nosed viper of North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. The image follows the rules of the Spot Paintings Hirst began in 1986: a precise grid of colored circles, each a different color, none repeated, the composition carrying no meaning beyond the pleasure of the colors themselves.
Screenprinted with glazes, which give the spots a depth and gloss that flat ink does not, and published by Other Criteria in an edition of 100. Signed and numbered in pencil. Presented in a custom white box frame with UV-protective glazing, ready to hang.
