Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a serious collector to work with Basher Fine Art?

No. Many clients are buying their first significant piece or furnishing a new home. The point of working with an advisor from the start is to avoid the mistakes that are expensive to undo later.

What does an advisor actually do that I can't do myself?

Research, access, and negotiation. Every piece is checked for price, condition, provenance, and resale market before you commit, sourced through galleries, auction houses, and private dealers you may not have access to, and negotiated on your behalf. You make every decision; the work behind it is done for you.

How are fees structured?

It depends on the engagement. Cataloging is a flat fee. Advisory work is discussed at the first consultation and set out in a written plan before anything begins. The first consultation is complimentary.

Do you only work with paintings?

No. Design objects, furniture, photography, sculpture, books, and rare collectibles are all part of the work. If it belongs in a collection, it gets the same research and documentation.

Can you help with a collection I already own?

Yes. Collection management and cataloging is one of the main services: photographing, documenting, and organizing every piece with its provenance, receipts, certificates, and condition, so you know exactly what you have and what it is worth.

Where do you work?

Based between Miami and New York, with clients in both. Remote engagements are also available, and cataloging in particular works well from photographs and documents.

Do you sell pieces on behalf of clients?

Yes. When a piece should leave a collection, it is researched, priced, and sold discreetly, either privately or through Available Works on this site.

How does buying from Available Works work?

Pieces marked Buy now can be purchased directly with a card. Pieces marked Inquire are handled by email, so condition, shipping, and price can be confirmed first. Every piece comes with its provenance documented in REGISTR, and the record transfers to you on purchase.

How is shipping handled?

Small objects ship for $10 and medium objects for $25 within the US, added at checkout. Large pieces such as framed paintings and furniture are shipped by specialist carriers and quoted separately after purchase. International shipping is available on request.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final. Every piece is described and photographed as accurately as possible, and condition can be confirmed before purchase on request. If a piece arrives damaged, contact hello@basherfineart.com within 48 hours of delivery.

What is REGISTR?

A collection management platform founded by Nicole Basher in 2025. It keeps every piece and its details in one place, including photos, receipts, certificates, and provenance, across art, watches, cars, wine, heirlooms and more. Collectors use it to know what they own, what it is worth, and where it came from. Learn more at registrapp.com (opens in a new tab).
