The NGV Edition published for KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness, the artist's 2019 survey at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. The set pairs the exhibition catalogue with an original screenprint of GONE, 2019, in which COMPANION cradles BFF in a pose drawn from the classical pietà. It is one of KAWS's most direct images of loss.
The screenprint was made in New York under the artist's supervision on Arches Aquarelle 300 gsm paper. Both the print and the catalogue are signed, dated and numbered 735/750 by KAWS. Everything is housed as issued: the print in a buckram-bound wallet with an archival envelope, alongside the book, inside the gray buckram box with foiled title.
